Black Stars head coach Otto Addo is seeking for a win against Uruguay but with a motive devoid of “revenge” against the South Americans.
Ghana need a point at the very least to qualify for the last 16 of the championship in Qatar.
But they have Uruguay standing in their way and the rivalry will be renewed following Ghana’s defeat on penalties by Uruguay 12 years ago.
Ahead of the game, Addo insists that “painful memory” will not provide extra incentive for the Black Stars, who would have become the first African nation to reach the last four at the finals.
“I’m a guy who doesn’t think too much in the past when this incident happened.”
“I’m a strong believer if you don’t seek revenge, you get even more blessings.”
“It’s a different approach, a different team. [Uruguay] have very good strikers, lots of experience. They are very compact, very good. It will be very, very difficult, again.
The crucial encounter comes off on Friday, December 2.
