The Ghana Football Association has petitioned FIFA against the ‘shameful conduct’ of United States of America referee Ismail Elfath in the Ghana-Portugal clash.

The 40-year-old has been reported to the world football governing body and demand sanctions against the centre referee.

The Major Soccer League referee has come under mounting criticism after he awarded a dubious penalty against the Black Stars at the 974 Stadium in Doha.

The Moroccan-born American refused to have a second look on the VAR monitor and judged Mohammed Salisu’s challenge on Cristiano Ronaldo as a foul.

The Ghana FA, as well as many other football enthusiasts have expressed their disappointment to the referee’s decision.

Ghana come up against South Korea in their next match while Portugal face Uruguay.
