The Chairman of the Ghana Football Association’s (GFA) Domestic Leagues Committee, Dr. Tony Aubynn, led a delegation to the Ministry of Sports and Recreation to present the Women’s FA Cup and the Malta Guinness Women’s Premier League trophies to the sector minister, Hon. Kofi Iddi Adams.

The symbolic gesture forms part of preparations for the upcoming Women’s Football Festival, set for Sunday, May 18, 2025, at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium.

Hon. Kofi Adams welcomed the delegation and praised the GFA for its leadership and efforts in growing the women’s game. “It’s great to have you here today, and as they say, nobody can tell your story better than yourself. We have to do it our way and bring the love to the women’s game,” he stated.

The Minister acknowledged the growing achievements of women in sports, adding: “You are right that in recent times, women have done more on their own than men. Not just in football, but even in many other sports ecosystems.”

He reiterated the government’s commitment to promoting women’s football. “The government is committed to ensuring women get the maximum support they need to reach their full potential and bring glory to the country,” he emphasized.

This year’s Women’s Football Festival promises an exciting double-header.

The Women’s FA Cup final between Jonina Ladies and Faith Ladies will kick off at 3:00 pm, followed by the Malta Guinness Women’s Premier League final featuring former champions Ampem Darkoa Ladies and Police Ladies at 6:00 pm.
