Wolverhampton Wanderers have opened negotiations to sign Ghana international Jonas Adjetey from Swiss club FC Basel, as the Premier League side battles to avoid relegation, reports Africafoot.
The 22-year-old centre-back, who has earned seven caps for the Black Stars, is viewed as a potential game-changer for Wolves, currently bottom of the table after 23 matches.
With the winter transfer window closing soon, manager Rob Edwards has prioritized strengthening his leaky defense, with Adjetey seen as a key piece in Wolves’ fight for survival.
Adjetey’s stock has risen since joining Basel in August 2022, with multiple European clubs showing interest and driving his market value beyond his €7m Transfermarkt valuation.
Despite the attention, Adjetey opted to remain in Switzerland last summer to continue his development rather than move abroad.
RC Lens from France and Galatasaray of Turkey have also previously expressed interest in the Ghanaian defender.
Wolves hope to conclude the deal swiftly to bolster their squad for the critical final months of the season.
