Wolves eye Takumi Minamino transfer

Wolves have been linked with a move for Liverpool attacker Takumi Minamino ahead of the upcoming summer window.

What’s the news?

According to a recent Twitter post from journalist David Lynch, Wolves are one of the clubs interested in signing the Japan international this summer, with a move away from Anfield looking likely.

The journalist also added that the likes of Leeds, Southampton, Fulham and Monaco are also interested in signing the player, who Liverpool are looking to get £17m for.

An exceptional move

After making 198 appearances for RB Salzburg in which he scored 64 goals and delivered 43 assists, the 27-year-old joined Liverpool back in the 2020 January transfer window.

Since then, the £72k-per-week winger has made 55 appearances for the Reds across all competitions, chipping in with 14 goals and three assists along the way.

Having only started nine of the 24 games he appeared in for Jurgen Klopp’s side this season, it’s easy to see why he has been linked with a move away from the Merseyside club.

Despite not being a regular figure in the team since his move to Liverpool, the former Salzburg star has still shown that he can be a useful attacking figure when called upon.

In fact, after scoring two goals for the Reds in their FA Cup win over Norwich City back in March, Klopp described Minamino as “exceptional” and that he delivered a “complete performance.”

Therefore, if he were to be given the chance to play on a consistent basis for Wolves, he certainly has the tools to be an important player for the Old Gold and Bruno Lage in terms of his ability to score and create goals.

Would you take Minamino at Wolves?

Taking into account how only Burnley (579) and Norwich (546) racked up fewer shot-creating actions than Wolves (611) in the Premier League this season, it certainly suggests that Lage’s side could really do with having an attacking talent like Minamino in their side.

Even though they may have some competition when it comes to securing his signature, Wolves should do everything they can to get the Liverpool misfit to make the move to Molineux this summer and reignite his Premier League career.
