Winner of 2025 Democracy Cup set to participate in three-team tournament in USA in May 2026 according to the Ghana Football Association.
This interesting revelation was made during the official launch of this year’s edition of the Democracy Cup.
Parliament together with officials for the GFa launched the second edition of the annual Democracy Cup at a ceremony at the Justice D. F. Annan Auditorium within Parliament House on Thursday, July 24, 2025.
During the launch, Accra giant Hearts of Oak and Accra Great Olympics were unveiled as the two football teams selected to compete in this year’s Democracy Cup.
According to the GFA either of Accra Hearts of Oak or Great Olympics will feature in a three teams tournament in the USA in 2026.
Initiated in 2024 by the Parliament of Ghana, the Democracy Cup is a sporting event aimed at promoting civic engagement and national unity through football.
The maiden edition took place at the Accra Sports Stadium on July 17, 2024, where Kumasi Asante Kotoko beat Accra Hearts of Oak 2-1 to lift the inaugural trophy.
