Milovan Rajevac’s decision to leave out Muntari, who is one of Ghana’s most consistent players in Europe and one of its best midfielders in addition to being a vital source of goals, is bound to dominate discussions for days to come.
And kickoffGhana.com understands that the last straw that broke the camel’s back was the midfielder’s inability to attend a planned meeting with Rajevac in Milan. The Serbian had sought a face-to-face meeting with the Inter Milan player.
Rajevac had planned talks to clear up mounting differences with the midfielder but the meeting never happened because Muntari simply decided he had other things to do at the time.
It added to a litany of complaints that the Serbian had about Muntari and decided the time had come to put his foot down.
There were those within the Ghana Football Association unhappy about the player’s omission, but Rajevac told them his team was better off both and off the field without Muntari.
Despite playing a key role in the Black Stars in recent years, Muntari has developed something of a bad boy’s reputation in the national team.
