West Ham: Claret & Hugh drops Cornet update

English Premier League

West Ham United have been handed a potential injury boost ahead of their Europa Conference League meeting with Silkeborg IF on Thursday evening.

What’s the latest?

That’s according to Claret & Hugh, with the West Ham insider revealing in a recent post that, despite having picked up a knock in the Hammers’ 3-1 victory over FCSB last week, David Moyes is hopeful that Maxwel Cornet will be fit to feature in both the club’s European and Premier League fixtures coming up this week.

In their post, Claret & Hugh said: “Cornet received a knock against [FCSB]… but Claret & Hugh’s key London Road contact told us [on Tuesday morning] there are high hopes the former Burnley man will be available for the two games and is recovering well.”

Good news for Moyes

Considering just how impressive Cornet has been in Europe so far this season, Claret & Hugh’s claim that the 25-year-old looks as if he will be available for selection against Silkeborg on Thursday night is undoubtedly good news for Moyes and his side.

Indeed, the £13.5m-rated talent highly impressed over the two legs of West Ham’s 6-1 aggregate victory over Viborg FF in Conference League qualifying, setting up Gianluca Scamacca for the club’s first of the game in the 3-1 first-leg win, before teeing up Said Benrahma for the Irons’ second in the 3-0 second-leg win.

Furthermore, after being handed a start in the 3-1 victory over FCSB last week, the Ivory Coast international once again caught the eye, making four key passes, one cross, winning six duels, completing one dribble and finding his man with 88% of his attempted passes – with these metrics seeing the 25-year-old earn a SofaScore match rating of 7.2.

As such, it is clear to see that Cornet is very much an attacker who makes things happen for his side, leading us to believe that the former Burnley winger’s availability against Silkeborg will come as a huge boost to West Ham’s chances of picking up all three points against their Danish opponents – a result that would put the Hammers in an extremely commanding position in their group.
