West Ham United’s star, Mohammed Kudus, finds himself at the center of attention as the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) approaches.
The talented Ghanaian midfielder, who has been a standout performer for the Hammers this season, is set to represent his country in the continental tournament, raising concerns for West Ham manager David Moyes.
Kudus has been a crucial asset for West Ham, contributing to seven goals in 17 games during the current season. His dynamic style of play, technical prowess, and ability to influence matches have earned him praise and recognition.
As the AFCON kicks off on January 13 and concludes on February 11, Moyes faces the challenge of managing without Kudus, who will be away on international duty.
“We’ve got Mo Kudus, and we’ve also got Saïd Benrahma from Algeria and Nayef Aguerd from Morocco,” Moyes said in a press conference.
“The disappointing bit, and the thing we’ll need to manage, is losing those players for a month during the African Cup of Nations. But that’s part of it.”
The midfielder’s absence will undoubtedly leave a void in West Ham’s midfield, and Moyes acknowledges the impact losing such a key player can have on the team’s performance.
