Kayden Lucas, the England-Ghana attacking midfielder, has joined West Bromwich Albion’s under-21 side from Newcastle United’s academy on a free transfer.
The 18-year-old has signed a contract with West Brom that runs until 30 June 2027. He moves to a side competing in Premier League 2 after spending the previous two seasons with Newcastle U18.
Lucas joined Newcastle from Clevedon U18 on 1 July 2024, before completing his switch to West Brom on 18 August 2026. The move represents his second change of club since leaving Clevedon.
Born in Bristol on 30 October 2007, Lucas is listed as an attacking midfielder and favours his left foot. He stands at 1.92m, making him a notable physical presence for a player whose primary role is in the middle of the pitch.
The new West Brom player has been included in the club’s squad for the early part of the 2026-27 campaign. He has yet to make an appearance in either the National League Cup or the Under-18 Premier League this season, with both competitions having recorded one possible game at the time of the move.
His arrival gives West Brom U21 another player capable of operating in an advanced midfield position. Lucas’s previous experience came at Newcastle’s under-18 level, while his new club competes in the higher-age Premier League 2 structure.
The transfer also marks a fresh stage in the career of a player who has represented both England and Ghana by nationality. Lucas was raised in Bristol and began his recorded academy career with Clevedon before moving into Newcastle’s youth system.
West Brom have completed the free transfer of Kayden Lucas, with the midfielder contracted to the club until June 2027.
