The Ghana captain inspired fantastic first half performance by the Black Satellites to help them gain a point after conceding under thirty seconds of the start of their game against Cameroon.
Dede’s creativity and leadership were the key reason Ghana equalized, prompting Cameroon coach Alain Webo to declare him the best player of the competition so far.
“I think he is the best player,” WebOS told KickOffGhana.com. “He brought us so many problems. The real game changed because of that boy. It’s not that individually they are too good, but Ayew tried to make my defense afraid and created so many scoring opportunities as a result.”
Ghana coach Sellas Tetteh now thinks the opening day display will crank up the pressure on Dede even more.
“It was clear who our best player was, the captain of the side, scored a wonderful goal, was meandering, weaving was encouraging the boys and did overall a great job.
“A superb performance and I am happy for him. It’s good for him and his future, even with the black stars. But it’s a challenge for him now to step up to the standard that he has set for himself.”
