Ghana international Mohammed Kudus has fired an early warning to the Black Stars’ Group L opponents following the draw for the 2026 FIFA World Cup in Washington.
Ghana have been drawn alongside England, Panama and 2018 finalists Croatia in a challenging group for the tournament, which will be staged across the USA, Canada and Mexico.
The Black Stars will open their campaign against Panama on June 17 in Toronto, before facing England on June 23 in Boston, and rounding off the group stage against Croatia on June 27 in Philadelphia.
Speaking after the draw, Kudus, who is heading to his second World Cup, insisted Ghana’s mere qualification is already a statement of intent.
“Just qualifying for the World Cup is already a big statement from us. And it’s good that we face England in the group. It will be an exciting match. I’m looking forward to it. We fully understand the team we’ll be up against and their quality, and we will be ready for it,” he said.
The 2026 World Cup will feature an expanded 48-team format, with Africa receiving a record nine automatic slots.
This will be Ghana’s fifth World Cup appearance, with their best run coming in 2010, when they reached the quarter-finals.
