We will be ready for Notts County says Akwasi Asante after Chesterfield’s FA Cup exit

Akwasi Asante has stated that Chesterfield will put Emirates FA Cup disappointment behind them and focus on their upcoming National League game against Notts County.

The Spireites went out of the Emirates FA Cup on Tuesday night, losing 4-0 in their third round replay at West Brom following goals from John Swift. Tom Rogic, Jake Livermore, and Jovan Malcolm.

The two sides had never before played each other in the FA Cup so a little bit of history was created at The Hawthorns.

Akwasi Asante played full throttle for the Spireites but West Brom’s Brandon Thomas-Asante did not feature due to suspension.

The 31-year-old praised Chesterfield fans for their support at the Hawthorns before talking about their next game against Notts County.

“The fans were brilliant, they always are. It is a lovely occasion for them, I feel like we let them down a bit but I am sure they will still be there to support us on Saturday,” he told Derbyshire Times.

On Notts County game: “It is massive,”

“We have got our full focus on the league now. The FA Cup is behind us now, we have had a decent run but realistically we were never going to win the cup but we have got a big opportunity on Saturday to close the gap on Notts County and the lads will be ready for it I am sure.”
