Black Queens coach Kim Lars Bjorkegren is eagerly anticipating the upcoming friendly match against Nigeria’s Falcons.
Ghana will play three international friendlies this month to prepare for the 2025 CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.
Bjorkegren believes these matches will be crucial in testing his team’s skills against different opponents.
“We want to test ourselves against different playing styles and team dynamics. Malawi and Botswana provide technical and disciplined opposition, while Nigeria offers the challenge of a traditional powerhouse,” he said.
The Black Queens will face Malawi on June 21 and Botswana on June 25 at the Ziaida Complex in Benslimane. They will then conclude their friendlies with a match against Nigeria on June 29 at the Lanouria Complex.
These games will serve as vital preparation for the TotalEnergies Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, which begins on July 5 in Morocco. Ghana’s campaign will start with a tough match against defending champions South Africa in Group C.
The friendlies will help the Black Queens fine-tune their skills and build momentum ahead of the tournament. Bjorkegren’s team will look to make a strong impression in the competition.
