“We Pressed Better – Otto Addo on Black Stars’ 1-0 Loss to South Korea

Black Stars coach Otto Addo believes Tuesday’s 1-0 defeat to South Korea showed clear progress from last week’s 2-0 loss to Japan. He praised his team’s improved intensity and tactical discipline during the friendly in Seoul.

Addo highlighted stronger off-ball work, noting that Ghana applied consistent pressure and disrupted several South Korean build-up phases. “We did better and put a lot of pressing into the game, but the first goal affected our rhythm and also our good play in the second half,” he said.

The breakthrough came in the 63rd minute when Lee Tae-Seok met a well-placed cross from Lee Kang-In, heading past goalkeeper Benjamin Asare. Ghana faced further pressure when South Korea earned a penalty, but Asare denied Hwang Hee-Chan to keep the contest tight.

The Black Stars thought they had equalised through Kwabena Adu and Jonas Adjei Adjetey, but both goals were disallowed for offside as Ghana pushed late for an equaliser.
