We did not know ourselves better – Salis Samed opens on Black Stars elimination from 2022 World Cup

Salis Abdul Samed says the playing body of the Black Stars will need time to know themselves to be able to come good.

The RC Lens midfielder made these pronouncements following Ghana’s elimination from the ongoing 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

The Black Stars were crashed out of the tournament at the group phase after picking three points after three games.

With the Ghana Football Association yet to name Otto Addo’s replacement, Salis believes the current crop of players must be kept well to be able to know themselves better.

According to him, they exited the tournament early due to a lack of understanding between the playing body.

“To me, we are now building the team. We are learning because we don’t know each other, I think we could have done much more if we knew each other,” he told 3Sports.

“I think that if the staff, management and the President, Kurt Okraku could keep the same team or make some additions because we have good players in Europe, it’s a buildup team and I think we have the qualities just that we don’t know each other much.

“Even though we don’t know each other much we did well, though the nation is a bit sad because we were unable to qualify. We did our best, everyone gave his all, I think this team is very solid just we don’t know each other,” he added.

The Black Stars now turn their attention to the 2024 Africa Cup of Nations [AFCON] qualifiers which resume next year.
