“We Created Chances, But Couldn’t Convert” – Otto Addo After Black Stars’ 1-0 Loss to South Korea

Ghana fell 1-0 to South Korea in Tuesday’s international friendly in Seoul, with Black Stars coach Otto Addo citing the hosts’ clinical finishing as the key difference.

Addo acknowledged that Ghana created enough opportunities but failed to convert, a factor that ultimately decided the game. He also noted progress compared to last week’s 2-0 defeat to Japan, praising improved ball circulation and attacking intent.

“We had good possession and created several chances, but we couldn’t finish. The game was fairly even and enjoyable to watch,” he said.

The match remained goalless until the 63rd minute, when Lee Tae-Seok headed in a precise cross from Lee Kang-In. Ghana was under further pressure when South Korea earned a penalty, but goalkeeper Benjamin Asare kept the scoreline tight with a crucial save against Hwang Hee-Chan.

Ghana later thought they had scored twice through Kwabena Adu and Jonas Adjei Adjetey, but both goals were ruled out for offside. Despite sustained pressure in the closing stages, the Black Stars were unable to find an equalizer.

The defeat marks back-to-back losses on Ghana’s Asian tour, signaling areas for improvement ahead of upcoming fixtures.
