We can’t afford to miss 2024 U-20 World Cup — Black Princesses Coach Yusif Basigi

Black Princesses head coach, Yusif Basigi has made a strong statement of his team booking a ticket for the 2024 U-20 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Colombia next year.

The Princesses commenced the qualifiers campaign on good note winning 6-0 on aggregate against Guinea Bissau in October before recording an 8-1 aggregate over Eswatini in November to reach this third and final stage of the qualifying series.

Basigi’s side need a win at all cost against Senegal to qualify for the seventh consecutive appearance at the global stage

In an interview with the Graphic Sports, the trainer is positive of ensuring qualification for the prestigious competition.

“We will surely qualify for the World Cup. We can’t afford to drop out because it has been a routine and we can’t lose it this time round,”

“We have to try our possible best to be there” he said.

Basigi will assemble 34 players to resume camping at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence in Prampram for preparations towards the final face of the qualifying campaign.

The competition will be hosted by Colombia from August 31 to September 22, 2024.

Yves Charles Ebonda has just informed us that he got a call from a United official on Friday enquiring about Adjei’s availability and what he would cost them. Ebonda, because he is in South Africa, represents Meir Rifman, who is a Fifa-licensed agent based in Israel, where Adjei used to play for FC Ashdod. Ebonda will be the go-between when negotiations start and says: “I called Rifman and he asked me to tell Maritzburg to tell us what they can afford. They will call me over the weekend after they have decided what they are willing to pay for Adjei.” Adjei is back in Ghana after leaving FC Ashdod, where he was a regular. He is now at Hearts of Oak, the club coached by former Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs coach Kosta Papic. He joined them in April on a short-term contract, but a Hearts official has recently accused Adjei of an attitude problem while speaking to KickOffGhana.com. Maritzburg have no keeper at the moment. They have decided to release Michel Babale and Atthiel Mbaha, while Tashrique Goldman’s contract is yet to be renewed.
