We are thrilled Josh-Kofi Acheampong committed his future to Chelsea – Jim Fraser

Chelsea’s head of youth development and recruitment, Jim Fraser, says the club is thrilled English-born Ghanaian teenager, Josh-Kofi Acheampong, has inked his inaugural professional contract with the Premier League giants.

The emerging star, who recently represented England at U-17 level, solidified his commitment to the club until the summer of 2026.

After the deal was announced, Chelsea head of recruitment Jim Fraser had a lot of praise for young Acheampong for his progress.

Fraser said he has put up some similar performances for club and country.

“We are thrilled that Josh has committed his future to the club,” said Head of youth development and recruitment, Jim Fraser.

“He has taken another step forward in his development this season, something reflected in his performances for club and country.”

Acheampong joined the Blues as an Under-8 and has progressed through the youth ranks at Cobham.

A versatile defender, he has been a regular for Chelsea’s Under-18s this season and has featured for the Under-21s.

Acheampong, who turned 17 in May, was part of the England Under-17 squad that competed at the European Championships in the summer, and at the World Cup in November.
