Ghana coach Otto Addo has revealed the he is aiming to shift from the culture of relying on individual brilliance to building a formidable side.
In light of his comments, Otto Addo has introduced five new players to the team ahead of the Unity Cup in London.
The debutants include Joseph Tetteh Anang, Abdul Aziz Issah, Aaron Essel, Caleb Yirenkyi, and Mohammed Gaddafi Fuseini.
Addo believes the tournament is an opportunity to assess these players, who have been on his radar.
“Team building is a process that requires time, and it’s not something that happens overnight. This is a great chance to give our young players a platform to prove themselves.”
Addo aims to create competition within the team by giving all talents an equal chance to showcase their skills.
“We’re looking beyond individual players and focusing on building a strong team,” he said. “That’s why I’ve decided to give many of these young players a chance to play and prove themselves, with the aim of making them key members of my team going forward.”
Ghana will face Nigeria on May 28, with the winner advancing to the final on May 31.
