Real Tamale United (RTU) defeated league leaders Asante Kotoko 2-1 at the Aliu Mahama stadium on Sunday in the Ghana Premier League match week 25 encounter.
Prior to the game, RTU had only won once from their last six league matches, while Kotoko also went into the game with loads of confidence following their 1-0 win against defending league champions Hearts of Oak last weekend in Kumasi.
The home side took an early lead through Ronald Frimpong who scored from penalty the spot in the 26th minute of the game.
Victor Aidoo doubled RTU’s lead in the 85th minute as he headed home a throw in from the right side.
Asante Kotoko goalkeeper Danlad Ibrahim misjudged his run as Aidoo soared high to head home the match winner in the 85th minute before Frank Etrouga pulled one back for Asante Kotoko.
Despite the late fight by Kotoko, RTU held on to secure a 2-1 win.
