WAFU U20 Championship: Coach Yaw Preko confident about Ghana’s qualification against Burkina Faso  –

Former Ghana U20 coach  Yaw Preko is optimistic the Black Satellites can beat Burkina Faso in their final group game to book a place in the semifinals of the WAFU U20 Championship in Niger.

The defending champions suffered a 2-0 defeat in their opening game against Nigeria last Saturday.

With just three teams in the group, Ghana must beat Burkina Faso in order to qualify to the next stage after losing to Nigeria.

Coach Yaw Preko is confident Ghana coach Karim Zito will be able to deliver to ensure the team progresses to the next stage.

Speaking in an interview on Accra-based radio station ahead of the game, “I knew against Nigeria it was going to be tough. After what the Black Stars did to the team in Nigeria in the World Cup qualifiers. Those who watched the game knew it wasn’t an easy game. For Ghana when we go to competitions we are slow starters”.

“We are only three teams in the group and unfortunately when you lose one match you don’t have the chance to make amends because you don’t have two games to play. We were hoping Burkina Faso were going to lose against Nigeria on Wednesday but that game ended in a draw.

The Shooting Stars head coach hopes the Black Satellites technical team will be able to deploy tactics to beat the Young Stallions of Burkina Faso.

“I hope the technical team has watched the Burkina Faso game. For the two goals to go into their net it means they can score and also concede. I believe coach Zito and his technical team will correct the mistake. It’s a do and die affair now. They will need just one point to qualify and I strongly believe Coach Zito and his players can qualify to the semifinals”, he added.
