WAFU B U20 Championship: Ghana and Nigeria share spoils in opener

Nigeria’s Flying Eagles drew 1-1 with Ghana’s Black Satellites in the opening game of the WAFU B U20 Championship

Aziz Misbau scored for Ghana in the 23rd minute, but Muhammed Abdullahi equalized for Nigeria in the 84th minute.

The match showcased the competitive spirit of both teams, with Ghana threatening to score early on but Nigeria’s captain Daniel Bameyi making a crucial goalline clearance.

Despite Nigeria’s strong start, Ghana’s persistence paid off, and they took the lead. However, Nigeria regrouped and pressed for a response, earning a corner in the 83rd minute that led to Abdullahi’s equalizer.

The draw keeps Group A delicately balanced, with Benin Republic being the third team in the group. Only the top two teams will advance to the semi-finals, making Nigeria’s next fixture critical.
