The Ministry of Sports and Recreation, led by Minister Kofi Adams, has congratulated the Black Queens on their qualification to the semi-finals of the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco.
In a statement, the Minister applauded the team’s resilience and assured them of continued government support:
“On behalf of the Ministry of Sports and Recreation and the Government of Ghana, I extend my heartfelt congratulations to the Black Queens on qualifying for the semi-finals of the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.
“You have given a nation a reason to believe again. As a Minister, I want to assure you of the continued support of the Government of Ghana. The Ministry remains committed to providing everything required to keep you focused and ready for what lies ahead.”
The Black Queens booked their place in the last four after a dramatic 4-2 penalty shootout victory over Algeria, following a hard-fought encounter that ended in a draw.
This marks Ghana’s first appearance in the WAFCON semi-finals since 2016.
Up next, the Queens will face host nation Morocco on July 22 for a chance to reach the final.
