Black Queens head coach Kim Lars Björkegren has urged his players to approach their quarter-final clash against Algeria with belief rather than fear, as Ghana targets a place in the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) semi-finals for the first time since 2016.
Ghana face the unbeaten Algerian side on Saturday, July 19, at the Stade de Berkane in what promises to be one of the standout fixtures of the tournament.
Algeria are unbeaten and yet to concede a goal in the tournament so far.
“The Algeria team is very organized; maybe the best organized team in this tournament,” Björkegren said.
“It is going to be a difficult game for us for sure. We need to do our things, keep building.
“We need to not be scared out there but see things in the opposite way, that we actually have a great chance to go to the next round.”
The Black Queens are set to hold their final training session on Friday as they prepare for the high-stakes encounter, knowing a win would mark a major milestone in their recent WAFCON history.
