A dramatic Women’s Premier League encounter in Techiman ended in controversy after post-match violence disrupted proceedings on Sunday, January 18, 2026.

Referee Lovia Boadiwaa Duodo was allegedly attacked moments after the final whistle at the Techiman Urban Park, forcing officials to rush her off the field.

Reports indicate she suffered injuries during the chaos that followed the game’s conclusion.

The disorder broke out after a tense finish, with supporters spilling onto the pitch as tempers flared. Video evidence and eyewitnesses point to match officials being targeted, while an FC Savannah Ladies player was also left hurt in the melee.

The incident has drawn sharp criticism from across the football fraternity, with many expressing concern over the safety of referees.

The match itself had swung dramatically late on, as FC Savannah Ladies held a 2–1 lead in stoppage time before Ampem Darkoa Ladies struck in the 92nd minute.

Ampem Darkoa then completed the turnaround with a decisive goal deep into added time.
