Former Black Meteors forward Yaw Yeboah scored and played a crucial role as beat Los Angeles FC to win the 2023 Major League Soccer title on Saturday night.
The Ghanaian played as a wing-back throughout the season, scoring four goals and provided five assists in 37 games.
The 26-year-old started the game and lasted 83 minutes as his team inflicted a 2-1 defeat over their opponent to annex their third MLS trophy after 2008 and 2020.
Yeboah provided the cross that led to the penalty converted by Cucho Hernandez to give Columbus Crew the lead in 33 minutes.
The Ghanaian capped an impressive performance with a goal in the 37th minute mark to make it 2-0.
LAFC reduced the deficit through Dénis Bouanga after 74 minutes.
Yeboah again came close to scoring a second but was denied by a goal-line clearance.
He will be hoping he can get a place in Chris Hughton’s squad for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in January.
