English-born Ghana forward Brandon Thomas-Asante scored as West Bromwich Albion defeated Rotherham United in the Championship on Saturday.

Wingers Jed Wallace and Grady Diangana, who had just been on the pitch for 20 seconds as substitutes, scored the crucial first and second goals for the hosts, who were playing in front of their home supporters for the first time in five weeks.

On an afternoon when Albion’s new head coach continues to inspire his club to a stunning turnaround, fellow sub Brandon Thomas-Asante completed the straightforward win – Albion’s joint-biggest success of the season with the Hull victory in August.

This season, the 23-year-old Ghanaian has four goals in 14 Championship appearances. His goal against Stoke City last month was named the best goal in the Championship for November.

Carlos Corberan’s lads went up a single position to 16th in the Championship standings, but the crucial match is on Wednesday at Coventry’s CBS Arena against Coventry.
