In-form Ghana attacker, Daniel-Kofi Kyereh netted his 10th goal of the 2021/22 German 2. Bundesliga season for FC St. Pauli Friday evening.
The Boys in Brown defeated fellow challengers FC Heidenheim 1-0 to boost their chances in the promotion race.
After an intense, yet goalless first half, St. Pauli gradually took charge of the proceedings after the interval in front of their home fans, but were unable to find a way through.
Then came Kyereh to finally break the deadlock on 67 minutes.
Leart Paqarada delivered an inch-perfect cross into the area and found Kyereh, who had sneaked in behind two defenders and had no trouble netting first time from close range.
Daniel-Kofi Kyereh thus capped a fine run of form with his 10th goal of the season in 24 league appearances before heading for international duty with Ghana who are scheduled to play rivals Nigeria in the African playoffs to the 2022 Fifa World Cup in a week’s time.
The Black Stars host the first leg in Kumasi on March 25 before travelling to Abuja for the reverse fixture four days later.
