Former Ghana defender John Paintsil says Southampton’s Mohammed Salisu brought stability to the Ghana backline during Friday evening’s loss to Brazil in a FIFA international friendly clash.

Salisu, 23, replaced Cremonense’s Felix Afena-Gyan around the 46th-minute mark as Otto Addo shifted to a 3-back system.

Brazil’s Samba Boys vastly dominated the first half as a diamond-gilded Brazilian Selecao side subjected the Black Stars to a first-half rendition of their ‘Samba football’ as the South Americans coasted to a convincing victory in the Upper Normandy city.

A brace from Tottenham Hotspur forward Richarlison added up to a 9th-minute finish from PSG Marquinhos as the Samba Boys coasted to an impressive triumph.

Tite’s dreaded attacking force gnawed and spat venom in brutal offensive onslaughts which produced 3 first-half goals with a number of factors helping the Black Stars to escape a potential cricket score-line.

Ghana warmed themselves into the game after the interval as the West Africans found their rhythm and contained the Brazilians who introduced Real Madrid’s Rodrygo, Manchester United’s Antony, and Matheus Cunha during the second half.

The arrival of Salisu further tightened up the Ghana backline and Paintsil has spoken about his performance.

“He brought stability to the backline. The changes by the coach also help. He was very calm and composed. Building from the back, he was very good at it,” Akwaaba Radio.
