The Ghana captain has not scored for the Black Stars since scoring a delightful free kick against Mali at the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations.

Gyan, 27, has meanwhile already hit the back of the net a staggering 21 times in 13 games for Al Ain in the UAE top flight which is only halfway through.

With the 2013 Nations Cup in South Africa fast approaching, many are concerned that the goals seem to have dried up at international level for Ghana’s no.1 striker.

But the ex Udinese, Rennes and Sunderland hitman believes his goals per game ratio for the Black Stars is healthy enough to offset any mini drought of the sort.

“It doesn’t worry me at all, because I think my national team ratio of goal scoring is quiet impressive,”

“I am somebody who doesn’t predict, I make sure I help the team to win.

“It doesn’t only depend on me, sometimes there might be opportunities that I have to release the ball for somebody to score.

“This is what we call team work. When I get the chance to score, definitely as a striker people will be expecting you to score.

“That is what I do so when I get the opportunity to score I will score.”

Asamoah Gyan’s most impressive Nations Cup return was in 2010 in Angola where he racked up three goals in Ghana’s impressive run to the finals.

He has in all other AFCON tournament struggled for fitness which has had a telling effect on his performance at the continental showpiece.
