Arsenal target Victor Osimhen calms talk surrounding his future after brilliant international break

Star Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen has called for calm surrounding his club future this summer after the Napoli number 9 has continued to be linked with interest from Premier League outfit Arsenal.

The latest reports in the Evening Standard quote the center-forward as acknowledging the interest around his profile but has distanced himself from confirming any possible desire to move away from southern Italy.

“I know there are many people that would like me in Spain or England, but I don’t think it’s the right time to talk about it now that I’m with the national team.”

“I always go out on the pitch to do my best both with the national team and with my club. I don’t know my future, I know anything can happen, but now I just want to go on holiday with my family, clear my head and recharge my batteries. Then we’ll take care of everything else.”

It has been reported by Italian media sources previously that Napoli would only be willing to accept an offer in the region of €100million (~£86million) to prise the 23-year-old away from the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona, but Arsenal is not the only side keen on possibly landing the striker as a key piece of their summer transfer plans.

Mikel Arteta’s Gunners are said to face competition from Bayern Munich – though the Bavarians are closing on a deal for Liverpool’s Sadio Mané – as well as European champions Real Madrid and Premier League rivals Manchester United.

Arsenal is certainly in the market for a front-line center forward after the club has lost both Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette in the last six months, and though Hale End academy graduate Eddie Nketiah looks set for a reversal and a contract extension at the Emirates, Osimhen would fit the bill as the next key number 9 at the club.
