German Bundesliga outfit VfL Bochum have strengthened their attacking ranks with the signing of versatile attacker Moritz-Broni Kwarteng on a four-year contract.
The 25-year-old German-born of Ghanaian descent had been linked with Stuttgart, Gladbach and Polish clubs this summer but Bochum won the race in securing his signature from second-tier side FC Magdeburg for a reported transfer fee of approximately €1 million.
Bochum made the purchase official on Thursday evening:

Kwarteng, who just completed an excellent 2. Bundesliga campaign for Magdeburg, is excited to get his first chance to play top-tier German football next season.
“The Bundesliga is a great challenge that generates huge enthusiasm in me.
“I will do everything I can to be successful with the VfL. I’m looking forward to the city, the stadium, the team, and – of course – the fans,” Kwarteng noted in a statement accompanying his announcement.
As a youth player, he played for RB Leipzig, Hoffenheim and Stuttgart. However, he has spent the majority of his professional career with Hamburger SV, who showed him the door in the summer of 2021.
After nearly six months without a club, he joined Magdeburg in January 2022. Since then, he has scored 13 goals and provided 10 assists in 43 appearances for the 2.
“We’ve been intensively engaged with Moritz for some time, so it is even nicer that the transfer could now be completed,” VfL technical director Marc Lettau also said.
“Momo is a player who took a tremendous development in the past season and fits ideally in terms of profile to the ‘Castrop street football’. He can be used variably in attack, has developed box-to-box play and is an additional invigorating element for our game with to his dynamism and speed.”
