Ghanaian youngster Abdul Awudu has signed a two-year contract with Portuguese top-tier side FC Vizela.
The 22-year-old Techiman-born central midfielder arrives from Valadares Gaia as an addition to the club’s under-23 side from where he will attempt to fight his way up to the Premeira Liga squad, Vizela said on Thursday.
A club statement read: “Abdul Awudu is reinforcement for the Under-23s. The 22-year-old Ghanaian midfielder arrives from Valadares Gaia, who participated in the last edition of the Portuguese Championship. Abdul, who studied at Albacete, signed a valid contract with FC Vizela until 2025.”
Awudu aspires to work and become a member of the main team:
“I’m going to work to make it to the main team. And I need to work hard to get there, but I will do my best,” he assured in his first interview.
“I am very happy to be here. I will do my best to help the team, just like any young player who has just arrived,” said the player who characterizes himself as a transitional midfielder with defensive abilities, eye for goals, and intelligent game reading.
Abdul Awudu has had previous experiences in Spain with Albacete, Unionistas of Salamanca, Moralo and Calamonte. He moved to Portugal with Valadares Gaia only in February 2023.
