Veteran football administrator Nana Fitz has boldly voiced his opinions on the challenges facing Ghanaian football, specifically addressing Kurt Okraku, the President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), and his administration.
His comments comes following the Black Stars disappointing group stage exit at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Côte d’Ivoire.
In an interview with Peace FM, Nana Fitz did not mince words as he criticized the leadership, stating that the core issue lies with Kurt Okraku and his team.
“We should tell Ghanaians the truth, Kurt Okraku and his people are the problem. Why don’t you tell them they are the problem? The coach has not done anything. Who brought the coach? When you were going to bring the coach, didn’t you know his ability?” Nana Fitz questioned, emphasizing the responsibility of those who made the decision to appoint Chris Hughton as head coach.
The veteran football administrator went on to assert that the failures in Ghanaian football trace back to the leadership provided by Kurt Okraku and his administration.
According to Nana Fitz, the recent decision to sack the coach is merely a symptom of the deeper issues within the football association.
He called for accountability, stating, “Until we build a solid foundation for Ghana football, Kurt Okraku and his people have failed the nation.”
