UK-based Ghanaian coach makes big REVELATION about ex-Chelsea defender’s Black Stars switch [Pure FM] —

Ghana’s Black Stars have been boosted by the availability of former Chelsea defender Tariq Lamptey, according to Kumasi-based Pure FM.

UK-based Ghanaian coach, popularly known as coach Freddie, has revealed on a sports programme in the Ashanti Region that the 21-year-old is now available to Otto Addo for selection.

Lamptey, who was born in September 2000, has featured 20 times for England at various youth levels and needed a nationality switch sanctioned by FIFA before he can turn up for Ghana.

According to the coach, who is reportedly close to sources close to the player, the process has been completed and Lamptey could be called up for the 2023 AFCON qualifying games against Madagascar and the Central African Republic next month.

“Tariq Lamptey’s switch is done. He is available now for Ghana and it now depends on the coach if he will invite him for the upcoming games or not. To be honest, I shouldn’t be saying this but the switch is done,” he is quoted by Pure FM on their Twitter handle.

Ghana had gone after the youngster to commit his international future to the West African nation which has won the AFCON competition four times.

The West Africans’ quest reportedly became successful when they secured a ticket to the 2022 FIFA World Cup tournament.
