After suffering a 3-1 defeat against Russia in their opening match, the Black Starlets roared back to form by thrashing Serbia 5-1 in their second game of the UEFA U-16 four-nation tournament at Zenit on Friday.
Abdulai Nortey fired the Ghanaian side into the lead in the 15th minute, followed by Hanson’s penalty in the 44th minute.
David Kwame Koranteng increased the tally just before the half-time whistle, giving the Black Starlets a comfortable lead.
Anane, who won the penalty for Ghana’s second goal, netted the fourth goal following a brilliant exchange of passes with Koranteng.
Serbia managed to pull one goal back in the 67th minute, making the score 4-1.
With just minutes remaining, substitute Benjamin Tsevanyo sealed the victory for Ghana.
The team’s next match is against Kazakhstan in the four-nation tournament.
Coach Laryea Kingston’s squad is fine-tuning their strategy and assessing their strengths as they prepare for the upcoming WAFU Zone B U17 tournament in Accra next month.
