Black Satellites central defender Aaron Essel has paid tribute to the passionate support of Ghanaian fans, both in Egypt and back home, as the team continues its campaign at the TotalEnergies U-20 Africa Cup of Nations Egypt 2025.
With the tournament heating up, Essel acknowledged the powerful impact of the fans’ presence—both in the stadium and through constant messages of encouragement. The enthusiastic backing has become a driving force for the players.
“The fans are our twelfth man,” Essel said. “Their energy, whether from the stadium or through messages from Ghana, motivates us to give everything.”
Ghana is set to face host nation Egypt in a high-stakes quarter-final on May 12 at the Suez Stadium. A victory would secure a spot in the semi-finals and book the Black Satellites a ticket to the FIFA U-20 World Cup in Chile.
Ahead of the crucial tie, Essel expressed heartfelt gratitude on behalf of the squad. “Thank you, Ghana, for believing in us. We’re ready to keep fighting,” he said.
