Black Satellites defender Aaron Essel has voiced the team’s firm focus and readiness ahead of their highly anticipated quarter-final clash with host nation Egypt at the TotalEnergies U-20 AFCON Egypt 2025. Speaking at the pre-match press conference in Suez, Essel described the upcoming match as a final in the eyes of the team.
“Preparations have been very good. The entire team is focused, and we’re ready to give our best on the field,” he said.
Despite the added challenge of playing against the hosts, Essel assured that the pressure won’t shake their confidence. “We’ve prepared adequately and we’re approaching this game with a strong mentality. The mood in camp is calm and focused,” he noted.
The young centre-back emphasized that the Satellites are sticking closely to the game plan outlined by head coach Desmond Ofei and remain driven by a shared goal: to qualify for the FIFA U-20 World Cup and make Ghana proud.
