Yussif Chibsah has urged the Black Meteors to qualify for the Olympic Games for the first time in 20 years.
The Black Meteors secured a place in the U23-African Cup of Nations tournament which will be held in Morocco in June 2023 where the top three finishers secure qualification to the global event.
Chibsah, who was the captain of the last Meteors team who qualified for the competition, is confident the current squad are capable of sailing through.
“It has been 20 years since we last qualified for the Olympics games. I have been readying myself to hand over the captaincy to the next person but no one is coming” Chibsah told Accra based Asempa FM.
“It been too long we (Ghana) last qualified for the tournament but I think with this current Meteors team they will make us proud.” he added.
The last time Ghana presented a male national team at the Olympics games was 2004 in Athens, Greece.
