Two-time AFCON winner George Alhassan has suggested the Black Stars are ‘cursed’ after extending their trophy drought to 42 years.
Ghana last lift the Africa Cup of Nations title in 1982 and has since gone to three finals without success.
The performance got worse in recent years as the Black Stars have been eliminated from the group stages in back-to-back Afcon tournaments.
“Sometimes, I sit down and belief. Ghana, seeing a cup and go home [not winning], there is something [cursed spell],” Alhassan told CitiSports.
The ongoing continental tournament in Ivory Coast saw Ghana booted out from the first round after playing three matches without a win.
The disaster led to the dismissal of Coach Chris Hughton and the entire dissolution of the technical team.
