Twenty-four players trained at the University of Ghana Stadium on day-one of the Black Stars build up to the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Mali and Central African Republic.

The Black Stars assembled in Accra on Thursday, May 30, to begin preparations for the two crucial qualifiers.

Aside Osman Bukari and Alexander Djiku, the rest of the players took part in the training session on Friday. Bukari’s late arrival is as result of his switch from Red Star Belgrade to Major League Soccer side Austin FC, while Djiku is being assessed after picking an arm injury in the closing stages of the Turkish Super Lig.

Ghana is keen to get back to winning ways after an unconvincing start in Group I, with one win and one loss in their first two matches. The Black Stars began their campaign with a 1-0 victory over Madagascar in Kumasi but suffered a 1-0 loss to Comoros in Moroni.

The Twenty-four players in camp include, Lawrence Ati-Zigi, Fredrick Asare, Joseph Wollacott, Alidu Seidu, Tariq Lamptey, Salisu Mohammed, Jerome Opoku, Abdul Mumin, Thomas Partey, Salis Abdul Samed, Gideon Mensah, Ebenezer Annan, Mohammed Kudus, Ernest Nuamah, Ibrahim Sulemana, Edmund Addo, Elisha Owusu and Abu Francis.

The rest are, Abdul Fatawu Issahaku, Antoine Semenyo, Jordan Ayew, Ibrahim Osman, Kamal Deen Sulemana and Brandon Thomas-Asante.

Training continues at the University of Ghana Stadium on Saturday, June 1, 2024.
