Tributes pour in for late Ghana winger Christian Atsu

Tributes have started pouring in for Christian Atsu on social media after the Ghanaian winger was confirmed dead by his agent on Saturday.

The former Chelsea and Newcastle star was found dead under the rubble of his home almost two weeks after the devastating earthquake in Turkey.

“It is with the heaviest of hearts that I have to announce to all well wishers that sadly Christian Atsu’s body was recovered this morning,” his agent Nana Sechere tweeted.

“My deepest condolences go to his family and loved ones. I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their prayers and support.”

His remains is currently on its way to Ghana to be buried in his home town.

Atsu was capped 65 for Black Stars between 2012 and 2019, including the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations, where he was named player of the tournament.
