Ghanaian forward Richardson Takyi has signed his first professional contract with Spanish side UD Santa Marta ahead of the 2025/26 Tercera Federación season.
The 21-year-old joins the fifth-tier club as part of his development into the European professional scene, following stints with Villaviciosa de Odón and Robledo CF in Spain’s lower leagues.
A product of the West Africa Football Academy (WAFA), Takyi impressed during his six-year stay with his pace, height, and eye for goal. Standing at 1.94m, he is known for his aerial prowess and sharp finishing, earning him the nickname “The Lion of Ghana.”
“Proud to announce that I have signed my first professional contract with UD Santa Marta,” Takyi shared. “I want to thank the club for giving me this opportunity to continue fulfilling my dream. Glory to God.”
UD Santa Marta, based in Castile and León, described the Ghanaian as “a powerful centre-forward, strong in the air and in one-on-one situations,” and expect him to add bite to their attack in the upcoming campaign.
