Tottenham Hotspur’s fight for a place in the top four took a hit in recent games. Spurs picked up just two wins from their last six matches in the Premier League and need a victory this weekend versus Aston Villa to improve their chances of a top-four finish.

Manchester United and Liverpool are on Spurs’ heels in the race for the top four. Tottenham are one point ahead of Manchester United and five in front of Liverpool.

Aston Villa are coming off a Boxing Day 3-1 loss to Liverpool at Villa Park. Manager Unai Emery watched his team slump to a defeat with little fight. Aston Villa are 12th in the league and still a mere five points above the relegation zone.

Tottenham Hotspur are unbeaten in five of their last six games against Aston Villa in all competitions. In 2021-22, Spurs did the Premier League double over Aston Villa. Spurs outscored Aston Villa 6-1 in their last two head-to-head meetings.

Antonio Conte’s team took just seven points from the last six games in the league. Spurs were outscored 13-11 across the last six matches. Tottenham have played well at home with six wins and two defeats this term.

Aston Villa picked up nine points from the last six games in the Premier League. However, the Villains were outscored 12-10 across the last six fixtures.

Villa have struggled away from home this season. They have won just one of eight games on the road in 2022-23. Aston Villa are not a strong goalscoring team away from Villa Park.

The team scored just five goals in their opening eight road games while conceding 16 times to opponents.

Emery could be without three players. Goalkeeper Emi Martinez may not be cleared fit after returning to the team following Argentina’s World Cup win. Martinez missed Aston Villa’s 3-1 loss to Liverpool as Robin Olsen played in net.

Midfielder Jacob Ramsey has been ruled out with a thigh injury and will play no part on Saturday. Centre-back Diego Carlos remains on the sidelines. He has played just two Premier League games since moving to Villa from Sevilla in the summer.

Conte will be without Richarlison after he was ruled out for up to four weeks with a thigh injury. Djed Spence is a doubt due to an illness. Cristian Romero could return to the team after winning the World Cup with Argentina.

Midfielder Rodrigo Bentancur is a doubt following a leg injury. Forward Lucas Moura is ruled out with a calf problem.

Tottenham Hotspur should post a third straight win in the Premier League against Aston Villa. Spurs should pick up a 3-1 win with Harry Kane potentially getting on the scoresheet.
