Tottenham are in advanced negotiations to sign Everton forward Iliman Ndiaye, with Richarlison set to return to his former club in a separate deal.
The agreement for Ndiaye is largely in place between the two clubs, but the 26-year-old’s move to north London is not yet certain. Manchester City are among the clubs to have shown an interest in the Senegal international.
City have also held discussions with Liverpool over a possible deal for forward Cody Gakpo, who is another Tottenham target. Liverpool would need to sign a replacement before allowing Gakpo to leave.
Everton are willing to sell Ndiaye after he rejected several contract offers and held talks with Saudi Arabian club Al-Hilal earlier this summer.
At the same time, Everton have reached an agreement in principle to re-sign Richarlison after the Brazil international repeatedly told Tottenham head coach Roberto de Zerbi that he wanted to leave.
Richarlison is entering the final year of his Tottenham contract. He would provide competition for Everton’s first-choice striker Thierno Barry, while Beto’s future at Hill Dickinson Stadium remains uncertain.
The potential moves are part of a series of interconnected Premier League deals being negotiated before Tuesday’s transfer deadline.
Richarlison among three Tottenham players seeking moves
Richarlison is one of three Tottenham players who De Zerbi says have asked to leave the club.
Defender Kevin Danso and midfielder Pape Matar Sarr have also been linked with departures. None of the three was included in Tottenham’s squad for Saturday’s 2-0 home defeat by Newcastle.
Asked about the players after the match, De Zerbi said: “Richarlison, I don’t know. He said too many times he wants to leave.
“Danso came to me two days ago, and he said he wants to leave, and Pape Sarr the same, but he suffered a small injury, and he is almost ready to train.
“I have very good relationships, but if they want to leave, they have to bring the solution, the economic solution, to the club, and they can go.”
Tottenham have spent more than £300m during the summer as they attempt to regain their competitive edge after finishing 17th in the Premier League for the past two seasons.
However, Spurs are bottom of the table after losing their opening two matches against Brentford and Newcastle without scoring.
Richarlison scored 11 goals last season, making him Tottenham’s leading scorer and an important player in the team’s fight to avoid relegation. Their Premier League survival was confirmed on the final day.
Earlier in August, De Zerbi said Richarlison’s future was uncertain, adding: “it’s not easy to find another striker like Richarlison”.
Manchester City striker Omar Marmoush joined Tottenham on loan last week and replaced Richarlison in De Zerbi’s starting XI against Newcastle.
Danso’s opportunities could also be reduced by the arrival of Marcos Senesi and Jan Paul van Hecke, who are competing for places in central defence. Micky van de Ven’s position has been strengthened by a new contract and his appointment as captain.
Sunderland made an offer to sign the Austria international, who has won 36 caps, on a season-long loan, but Tottenham rejected the proposal.
Sarr’s prospects in midfield have been affected by Tottenham’s early arrivals of Mateus Fernandes and Sandro Tonali. Spurs began their major summer rebuild by breaking their club-record transfer fee twice in one week.
The 23-year-old Senegal international has attracted interest from several clubs, including a number of Premier League sides and Turkish club Besiktas. Juventus are understood to be confident of signing him on loan in a deal containing a conditional obligation to buy.
Everton also pursue Grealish and Tete
Everton are increasingly confident of completing a loan agreement for Jack Grealish from Manchester City, although the structure of the deal remains complicated because the England international is also entering the final year of his contract at Etihad Stadium.
Grealish has made returning to Everton his priority. He spent last season on loan at the club and prefers another move there to rejoining boyhood club Aston Villa, who have also expressed an interest.
Everton are also looking for a right-back and are close to agreeing a £9m deal for Fulham defender Kenny Tete. The player came close to moving to Everton last summer.
Fulham have begun considering replacements for Tete and have opened talks with Rayo Vallecano over Andrei Ratiu.
