Ghana midfielder Thomas Partey is set to return to La Liga after finalizing an agreement to sign with Villarreal CF this summer.
The midfielder, who recently parted ways with Arsenal, will soon be presented as a new signing by the Spanish club.
His move brings an end to a five-year chapter in North London, where he made 167 appearances, contributing nine goals and seven assists in all competitions.
Partey’s departure followed protracted contract discussions with Arsenal, which ultimately collapsed despite initial optimism over a new deal.
Shortly after leaving the Gunners, Partey was charged by the UK’s Crown Prosecution Service with multiple counts of rape and sexual assault, allegations he has firmly denied.
He is expected to appear before Westminster Magistrates’ Court on August 5.
Prior to joining Arsenal, Partey spent several seasons at Atletico Madrid, where he established himself as one of Europe’s most reliable midfielders.
His switch to Villarreal marks a fresh opportunity to relaunch his career in Spain’s top flight.
