Ghanaian midfielder Thomas Partey has officially started training with Villarreal after sealing a move to the Spanish side on a two-year contract.
The 32-year-old joins the Yellow Submarine as a free agent following the expiration of his Arsenal contract in June, bringing an end to a five-year stint in north London.
Partey made 167 appearances for the Gunners, including 52 last season across all competitions.
He originally signed for Arsenal in 2020 from Atlético Madrid for €50 million, having previously featured 188 times for the La Liga giants.
Partey’s move comes amid ongoing legal troubles. He is currently facing serious allegations, charged with five counts of rape and one count of sexual assault on July 4, charges he firmly denies.
The investigation, which began in February 2022, did not prevent him from continuing to play for Arsenal during that period.
He recently appeared in court and was granted conditional bail, which includes a requirement to notify authorities at least 24 hours before any international travel.
