‘This is evidence-based accountability’ Road safety boss commends GFA President

The Acting Director-General of the National Road Safety Authority (NRSA), Abraham Amaliba, Esq, has lauded the President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku, for his transparent and evidence-based leadership.

Speaking at a brief ceremony to present eight brand-new Nissan Navara pickups to Regional Football Associations (RFAs) under the FIFA Forward program, Mr. Amaliba praised the GFA for demonstrating the effective and visible use of FIFA development funds.

“Over the years, many football fans in Ghana have questioned the use of FIFA funds. But today, we are all living testimonies to what these funds have achieved,” he stated, referencing the newly acquired vehicles.

The NRSA, through its Acting Director-General, also pledged to provide free road safety training and sensitization for the drivers of the RFAs. Mr. Amaliba emphasized the importance of responsible vehicle usage, cautioning against misuse.

“These vehicles are not meant for construction work or carrying cement blocks. They are tools to unearth and nurture grassroots talent,” he advised.

The pickups, secured through FIFA’s flagship development initiative, are intended to support the operational and administrative duties of the RFAs. This initiative forms part of the GFA’s broader strategy to decentralize football development and strengthen regional structures with the resources needed to function effectively.

This latest collaboration builds upon a growing partnership between the GFA and the NRSA. In December 2024, the two institutions jointly launched a nationwide Road Safety Campaign through the GFA Foundation, aimed at raising awareness and promoting safe driving practices across the country.

With this latest support, the GFA continues to demonstrate its commitment to transparency, grassroots development, and inter-institutional collaboration for the greater good of sports and public safety in Ghana.
