Asante Kotoko head coach Karim Zito has admitted that Sunday’s encounter against Medeama SC will be a challenging test, acknowledging the strength and consistency of the Mauve and Yellow ahead of their meeting at the Baba Yara Stadium.
The match, scheduled for Sunday, May 30, 2025, marks Kotoko’s final home fixture of the season—and it’s a crucial one.
With just two games left in the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League campaign, Kotoko sit third on the table with 55 points, trailing leaders Nations FC (60 points) and Bibiani Gold Stars (57 points).
Speaking to the media ahead of the clash, Zito praised Medeama’s style of play and tactical discipline, noting the team’s ability to maintain control and pose threats in key moments.
“They will come all out,” Zito said. “I know Medeama SC, and I know the quality they have. The moment doesn’t favour them, but they have good players with good sense of judgement.
When it comes to consistency, Medeama also stands tall. They try to keep the ball, so when you see them playing, you will enjoy them; which tells you the match will be very competitive.”
Kotoko will be hoping to capitalize on home advantage and secure all three points to keep their title hopes alive heading into the final round of matches.
The Porcupine Warriors also need Nations FC and Bibiani Gold Stars to drop points to open a potential path to the title.
With both sides eyeing a strong finish, all signs point to a thrilling showdown in Kumasi this weekend.
